  1. Dear Farr

I wonder if you know who holds the glass plate negative of Rumsdale. I am quite sure it could be restored in a way that would produce a sharper image.

    best wishes

    Michael

    1. Hello Michael. Thanks for your query. Unfortunately I don't know who holds the glass negative. The photo looks like something from the Johnston Collection but some time back I asked them and they did not have the original. Having said that many of their old glass plates apparently didnt survive. I found the photo in the archives of Alan Roydhouse who died in 2000. Tony Barton still holds that archive. I am in New Zealand and write under a nom-de-plume. My real name is Christina Baldwin. But it would be brilliant to get a better image. I could send you a higher definition of the photo if you have any ideas for sharpening it.

  2. Hello again Michael. You asked about the damaged picture of the Rumsdale house. I am not sure what your interest is but if you are looking for pictures of old houses in the Highlands have I sent you the photo of the Badbea house which I presume was taken in the late 19thC. I may have posted it already on my blog but it will take me a few minutes to find it so it is quicker to ask you. Let me know if you would like a copy.
